Halong Bay Honeymoon Cruise: The Royal Suite with a Private Outdoor Jacuzzi

Private balcony of the Royal Suite on Hermes Premium with an outdoor Jacuzzi facing the limestone bay

A Halong Bay honeymoon cruise gives a couple one simple thing: a quiet room on the water, a sunset at the right hour, and a programme that runs itself. Meals, caves, kayaking and a Sundeck evening sit inside one booking, so the two of you decide only how much to join in.

Hermes Premium suits this plan because its top cabin offers something the other categories do not: a private outdoor Jacuzzi on its own balcony. This guide covers the Royal Suite in detail, compares it with the other couple-friendly cabins, walks through a typical evening, and lists what to ask the team when you book.

A Halong Bay honeymoon cruise works best in a private-feeling cabin, and on Hermes Premium that means the Royal Suite: 65 m² on the second floor with a King bed, balcony, bathtub and private outdoor Jacuzzi, plus fresh fruit and house wine. The ship also has an Infinity Pool and sails 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights from Tuan Chau.

What Makes a Halong Bay Honeymoon Cruise Different From a Hotel Stay?

You sleep in a different part of the bay from where you woke, with every meal and excursion included in one plan. Hermes Premium keeps that plan boutique in scale: 26 cabins and a maximum of 89 guests, looked after by 50 crew.

The ship is 57 m long and 13.85 m wide, and it was launched in 2026. Boarding is at berth G112, opposite Lot 20 of Tuan Chau International Port, with a private lounge at Lot 20 and a tender to the ship at 12:00. Tuan Chau is 150 km from Hanoi, about 2.4 hours by road. Hanoi to Ha Long transport is not included in the cruise price, although a luxury bus can be booked, and a private car or helicopter is available on request.

The IUCN World Heritage Outlook describes the Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago site as including some 1,600 islands and islets, and your days are spent among them.

You can choose between the 2 Days 1 Night itinerary, which visits Sung Sot Cave, Luon Cave and Titov Island, and the 3 Days 2 Nights programme, which adds a day boat to Lan Ha Bay. The full vessel profile is on the Hermes Premium Cruises page.

What Is Inside the Royal Suite With a Private Outdoor Jacuzzi?

The Royal Suite Cabin measures 65 m² on the second floor, with one King bed, a private balcony, a bathtub and shower, and a private outdoor Jacuzzi. Hermes Premium’s programme lists fresh fruit and house wine, red or white, as the suite’s special benefit.

Feature Royal Suite Cabin
Size 65 m²
Location Second floor, rooms 213 and 214
Bed One King-size bed
Outdoor space Private balcony with a private outdoor Jacuzzi
Bathroom Bathtub and shower
Welcome benefit Fresh fruit and house wine (red or white)
In every cabin Mini bar, two complimentary water bottles daily, central air conditioning, safe box, bathrobe, slippers

Hermes Premium’s published details list the outdoor Jacuzzi as exclusive to the VIP cabin, so it belongs to the Royal Suite and is not a shared deck feature. With two Royal Suites on a 26-cabin ship, it helps to ask about your dates early.

⚓ Captain’s Maritime Log:
“Hermes Premium is 57 m long and 13.85 m wide, and it moves between anchorages on a schedule set by weather and tides. Hermes Premium’s programme states that the programme can change on the day, and the Cruise Manager’s briefing at boarding covers the plan and the safety rules.”

Royal Suite, Senior Cabin or Deluxe With Balcony: Which Suits a Honeymoon?

Choose the Royal Suite for the Jacuzzi and the most space, the Senior Cabin for a 35 m² room with a balcony and bathtub, and Deluxe with Balcony for a compact 20 m² room on the third floor. All three have a private balcony.

Royal Suite Cabin Senior Cabin Deluxe with Balcony
Size 65 m² 35 m² 20 m²
Floor Second Second Third
Bed 1 King 2 single beds or 1 King 1 King
Private balcony Yes, with outdoor Jacuzzi Yes Yes
Bathroom Bathtub and shower Bathtub and shower Shower

Two further points help the decision. The Senior Cabin comes with either two single beds or one King bed, so ask for the King configuration when you book. And the 25 m² Deluxe Cabin has a window with a sea view but no balcony, so it is the one to skip if outdoor space matters to you.

Our cabin page for Hermes Premium shows all seven categories, and rates depend on the cabin you pick, the length of the cruise and your transfers, as the guide to what affects the price of a Halong Bay cruise explains.

What Does a Couple’s Evening on Board Look Like?

On Day 1 the evening runs from afternoon tea at 17:00 to dinner with traditional music, an Ao Dai and music session on the Sundeck at 20:00, and night squid fishing at 21:00.

Time (Day 1) What happens
12:00 Tender to the ship, welcome drink, briefing from the Cruise Manager

17:00 Afternoon tea at sunset; a cooking class with the onboard chef

20:00 Ao Dai experience, music and a cocktail on the Sundeck; karaoke is available
21:00 Night squid fishing with the crew at the stern
22:00 Quiet night on board, with a goodnight message from the crew
Hermes Premium Infinity Pool with water jets under a timber ceiling, open to the limestone bay
Hermes Premium lists an Infinity Pool among its activities.

The ship’s Infinity Pool is described in more detail in our guide to the Hermes Premium Infinity Pool. Ask the team about pool conditions on your dates.

🧭 Cruise Director’s Insider Tip:
“Day 1 is busy from the 12:00 tender to the 21:00 squid fishing, so decide early which parts are optional. Consider keeping the hour after boarding and the late evening free for the suite, and join the 20:00 Sundeck session for the view. Day 2 offers Tai Chi at around 06:00 and Titov Island at 07:15, and both are choices rather than obligations.”

👨‍🍳 Executive Chef’s Note:
“The dinner menu offers a Vietnamese course and a Western course. Vietnamese dishes include Halong seafood soup with cordyceps mushroom and grilled Australian beef in a bamboo tube. The Western course includes Lobster Thermidor with creamy pasta, and desserts include crème brûlée. A vegetarian menu is available, so tell the team about dietary needs when you book.”

How Do You Request a Honeymoon or Anniversary Set-Up?

Name the occasion when you enquire, then ask the team what can be arranged for your cabin and date. Hermes Premium’s published details list honeymoon, wedding anniversary, birthday and wedding ceremony among the events Hermes Premium hosts.

  1. Pick your dates and length. Choose 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights.
  2. Name the cabin. Ask for the Royal Suite, and for the King bed if you choose a Senior Cabin.
  3. Mention the occasion. Ask the reservations team which celebration set-ups are available for your cabin before you rely on them.
  4. Plan the transfer. Hanoi to Ha Long transport is not included, so book the luxury bus, a private car or the helicopter option in advance.
  5. Prepare your documents. Send passport details for all guests before departure.
  6. Check your health plan. The US CDC advises talking to a doctor about travel vaccines at least a month before you go.
  7. Send your request. Include dates, cabin, occasion and transfer needs in a single message.

Is a Halong Bay Honeymoon Cruise Comfortable in Cool Weather?

Yes, with a jacket for the Sundeck and the balcony. Vietnam’s tourism authority describes cool, drier winters with a light mist over the bay, and the cabins have centrally controlled air conditioning.

The best time to visit Halong Bay is late September to November and March to May, when temperatures are comfortable and seas are calm. December to February is cooler, often misty in the morning and quieter on the water. Evenings call for a warm layer, and the sun still deserves sunscreen: the CDC suggests SPF 15 or higher and shade between 10:00 and 16:00.

For the Jacuzzi, Hermes Premium’s published details do not state water temperature or seasonal use. Ask the team when you book whether it can be used on your dates. Because the Jacuzzi sits on the suite’s own balcony, privacy is built into the cabin. Couples comparing both ships in our fleet can also look at the 18-cabin Hermes Cruises on the Hermes Cruises cabins & suites page, where every suite has a private balcony and indoor jacuzzi bathtub, and the two President Suites of 64 m² on the second floor feature a romantic round bed and an outdoor jacuzzi on the terrace, sailing the 2 Days 1 Night itinerary on Hermes Cruises.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does the Royal Suite really have a private outdoor Jacuzzi?

Yes. The Royal Suite Cabin on Hermes Premium lists a private outdoor Jacuzzi, a private balcony, a bathtub and a shower. On our sister 18-cabin vessel Hermes Cruises, the President Suite of 64 m² also features a round bed and an outdoor jacuzzi on the terrace, while every suite category includes an indoor jacuzzi bathtub.

How many Royal Suites are on board?

Two on Hermes Premium (rooms 213 and 214, each 65 m²), plus two Royal Suites of 47 m² and two President Suites of 64 m² on the 18-cabin Hermes Cruises. Ask about availability for your dates as early as you can, particularly around holidays.

Should we choose 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights for a honeymoon?

Choose 3D2N for a second evening on board, and 2D1N for a shorter break. Both visit Sung Sot Cave, Luon Cave and Titov Island. The longer programme adds a Lan Ha Bay day boat with Trinh Nu Cave, kayaking, Ba Trai Dao beach and a pearl farm or Me Cung Cave.

Can we celebrate a honeymoon or anniversary on board?

Yes, tell the team when you book. Honeymoon, wedding anniversary, birthday and wedding ceremony are listed among the events Hermes Premium handles. Confirm the exact arrangements for your cabin and date with the team before you travel.

Is the transfer from Hanoi included?

No. Hanoi to Ha Long transport is not part of the cruise price. The port is 150 km from Hanoi, about 2.4 hours by road. A luxury bus can be booked, and a private car or helicopter is available on request.

Is a honeymoon cruise comfortable in December?

Yes, with warm layers. December brings cooler, often misty weather, and cabins have air conditioning. Ask the team about Jacuzzi and pool use on your dates, since Hermes Premium’s published details do not state seasonal conditions.
